Choose the smallest set of backlog items that can deliver a coherent Sprint Goal within capacity.
Sprint Planning gets easier when the team hunts for the smallest coherent slice. Ask: what is the minimum set of Done stories that would let stakeholders inspect whether the goal moved? This reduces overload in two ways. It lowers the number of moving parts Developers must coordinate during the sprint, and it makes capacity conversations concrete because every selected point supports the same outcome. If a story only fits because it is small, but does not strengthen the goal, it belongs outside the commitment. Small irrelevant work still adds context switching.
