Choose the Right Boundary: CTE, Inline Subquery, or Temp Table
Decide whether a query stage should stay inline, become a reusable CTE, or move into a temporary table.
The deciding principle is leverage. Use the lightest structure that keeps meaning clear while preserving the optimizer behavior you want. Boundaries are expensive when they stop useful pushdown, and they are valuable when they prevent expensive recomputation.
