Pick the Ranking Function That Matches the Business Rule
Choose the correct ranking window function based on how ties should behave in the final output.
The best answer depends on the output contract, not on personal preference. If leadership says exactly one winner per tie, you need deterministic uniqueness. If they say do not hide tied performers, you need shared ranks. Advanced SQL quality comes from making tie behavior explicit.
