Identify which parts of a recursive CTE seed traversal, which advance it, and which consume its final output.
Place each fragment in the part of the recursive query where it belongs. Anchor member Recursive member Outer query / consumer Select the CEO or root category rows with depth = 0 Join child rows to the prior level and increment depth Order the finished traversal by path or search column Initialize the path array with the starting node ID Append the child ID to the existing path on each step Filter the final recursive relation to one root for the report output
