Lead With the Change, Not the Chronology
Turn a status update into a concise leadership story using the And-But-Therefore structure.
Chronology explains what happened; ABT explains why it matters now. Most leadership updates are too flat because every fact receives equal weight. The ABT structure gives the audience a reason to care: first the stable context, then the tension that disrupts it, then the action that follows. The Three Beats And is the shared ground: the project, target, customer, or assumption everyone already recognizes. But is the meaningful disruption: risk, friction, evidence, constraint, or opportunity. Therefore is the leadership move: decide, fund, stop, change, escalate, or align.
