Separate Signal from Noise

Filter information by whether it is reliable, decision-relevant, and capable of changing the next action.

Hook More information can make you feel smarter while making the decision worse. Teach Signal is information that should change your belief or action. Noise is information that consumes attention without improving the decision. The distinction depends on the decision in front of you. Use three gates. Relevance: does this evidence connect directly to the decision? Reliability: do you trust how it was produced? Movement: would it change the choice, timing, or confidence threshold?
