Turn Priority Noise Into a Ranking Task
Choose and design ranking tasks when priority tradeoffs matter.
The roadmap team needs to allocate scarce engineering capacity, but ratings make every feature look urgent. Use ratings for absolute evaluation and rankings or top-choice tasks for relative priority among comparable options. Asking respondents to rate too many desirable options invites non-differentiation and hides tradeoffs. Rate 12 possible features from not important to very important. From these six feasible features, choose the two you would most want shipped in the next quarter. Decision Confirm the team needs relative priority, not general interest.
