The Five Components of a Prompt: Structure for Success

Identify and intentionally structure the five key components that make up an effective prompt.

Effective prompts typically contain five core components: role (who the AI should be), context (background information), task (what you want done), format (how the output should be structured), and tone (the style or voice). Breaking prompts down this way helps ensure you're not leaving anything implicit. Role might be 'You are a UX researcher' or 'You are my marketing assistant.' Context provides relevant background. Task is the actual request. Format specifies output structure (bullet points, paragraph, JSON, etc.). Tone specifies the voice (professional, casual, technical, creative).
