The Sponsorship Deal Is Mutual

Explain the reciprocal value exchange that makes sponsorship credible.

Sponsorship is a reputation-backed bet. The sponsor lends credibility; the protege must give that credibility something solid to stand on. The Sponsor's Risk When a sponsor advocates, other leaders hear more than a recommendation. They hear, "I trust this person's readiness enough to attach my judgment to it." The Protege's Obligation The protege owes preparation, transparency, and follow-through. That does not mean being perfect. It means being clear about evidence, gaps, and the plan to deliver. The Manager's Role Managers often broker sponsorship by translating potential into proof. A vague compliment rarely moves a room; a clear evidence packet can.
