Plan Around the Shopper Mission, Not the Demographic
Translate a broad shopper segment into a specific mission that can guide in-store activation.
The shopper's mission explains the buying moment. Demographics are not enough Age, household, and income can guide media and range planning, but they rarely tell you what the shopper needs in front of the shelf. Jobs reveal the context A job names the progress the shopper wants: solve dinner, replace a forgotten item, create a treat, stock the pantry, or reduce risk on a new purchase. Activation follows the barrier If the barrier is speed, use adjacency and simple copy. If the barrier is trust, use proof and reassurance. If the barrier is value, use price architecture or bundle logic.
