What does visibility of system status ask? Can users tell what is happening, what changed, and what they can do next? Use it for saving, loading, importing, disabled controls, background jobs, and long-running actions. Recognition rather than recall vs. help documentation Recognition puts needed information in the interface; help documentation supports tasks when the interface cannot teach everything inline. Prefer recognition for task-critical context. Use documentation when guidance is secondary, searchable, and task-focused. Stakeholder says: users will figure it out after the first time.
