Redesign an Assessment Without Lowering the Standard

Apply UDL principles to distinguish access barriers from essential vocational standards in an assessment.

A student can perform cabling troubleshooting at the rack but fails a long written exam, raising the question of whether the assessment measures the job skill or an extra barrier. UDL: preserve the essential performance standard while offering valid ways to access information and express competence. The common trap is treating one assessment format as rigor.
