Focus is where the user's next action will land. It must be visible enough to trust. Size and contrast A usable indicator needs enough surface area and contrast to be detected quickly. Thin shadows, barely changed borders, or color-only changes can disappear against component backgrounds or adjacent content. Obstruction Focus can technically move to a control while the user cannot see it. Sticky headers, floating help widgets, snackbars, and cookie banners often cause this.
