Map the Hand-Offs First
Include downstream waiting and handoff friction when evaluating automation value.
A task's stopwatch is not the whole value story. The Teach The frequency-times-time matrix starts with the performer: how often does this happen, and how many minutes could automation save? That is necessary but incomplete. Lean asks you to see flow, not just activity. If a small task gates another team, the waiting time belongs in the value discussion. Task decomposition is how you find that gate. Write each step from trigger to done, then mark the handoff: who receives the output, what they need to proceed, and what happens if it arrives late or incomplete.
