Read the route map before optimizing
Decide when an AI efficiency gain needs an equity check before implementation.
The optimizer improves the citywide average, but one small rider group carries most of the burden. What should Maya do before she approves the AI-generated route change? Approve it because the average commute time improved for the whole city. Weak move: this treats aggregate efficiency as fairness. It violates the OECD human-centred and inclusive-growth principle because a concentrated harm can be hidden inside a better average. Pause the route cut, run an equity slice for affected riders, and document the tradeoff for the approval board.
