Set decision rights before the prompt
Define human decision roles before generating AI advice for a workplace decision.
Before the prompt, name the roles. A decision prompt should not ask AI to be the decider unless the organization has explicitly delegated that authority, which is rare in professional settings. Most of the time, AI should support a human role. Use four labels before prompting: Owner: the person with the final decision right. Recommender: the person accountable for turning evidence into a recommendation. Consulted: the people whose expertise or approval is required.
